The Association of Avian Veterinarians (https://www.aav.org/)

is a diverse global professional organization dedicated to advancing and promoting avian health, welfare, and conservation through education, advocacy, and science. The Association of Avian Veterinarians is an international education and scientific organization with programs encompassing research, conservation, scientific forums, and refereed publications. The AAV was founded in 1980, incorporated in the State of Massachusetts in 1982 and received its 501 C(3) status in 1983.

AAV members engage in a multitude of fields related to the stewardship and welfare of domestic, captive, and free-ranging birds. Those areas include companion bird medicine and surgery, government and non-profit employment in conservation, wildlife, zoological medicine, regulatory, industry and aviculture and academic practice.

Our members care for the widest range of domestic and wild species: small companion birds to large parrots, backyard poultry and domestic ducks, hummingbirds to raptors, as well as migratory and shore birds.
