Bringing Your New Bird Home - Tips and Tricks
Have your cage ready for your bird before you bring it home.
Get the largest proper cage possible with the proper spacing so they can spread their wings, climb, and maybe fly.
You’ll need perches (proper size), food and water bowls, toys.
Bring home with you some of the food that it was raised on. If you need to, gradually change their diet.
Do not use sand covers for perches as they can damage their feet. No bedding needed, usually paper works best.
Have other birds, please quarantine the new bird(s) for at least 2 weeks: separate room, cage, etc
Look for a healthy bird: bright, gleaming eyes, sleek and shiny feathers, smooth, clean, feet
